As Director of the National Center for Digital Government (NCDG), based in the United States, I am pleased to welcome you to digital-government.net. The NCDG was founded with support from the National Science Foundation to explore the intersection of technology, institutions and governance. Since its inception, its focus has been on empirical research, building a global community of scholars and building a field of knowledge to train the next generation of scholars and civil servants. 

During the 2008-2009 academic year, NCDG has the pleasure of hosting this website’s editor, Mr. R. Erdem Erkul, as a visiting fellow.  It is my hope that this resource will serve to generate and share knowledge of information and communication technologies and their potential to strengthen democracy and citizenship. It is with this and the core principles of the NCDG mission in mind that I welcome you to this website.
